Ajax, disruption over solving the real problems

Everyday some new concept or tool is brought to the forefront and only a few really stick. Unfortunately Ajax is one of those concepts thought long ago but popularized by the lack of doing the right thing. I really dislike the hack Ajax brings to the table and all the clutter that surrounds it to make it actually work. Even worse is the amount development being poured into a dead end idea. Development is already difficult enough without encouraging more clutter. When will we accept the browser is at such a fragile state we must implement significant changes going forward? These changes don’t happen overnight either and the only company really taking a different approach is Adobe+Macromedia.
